“Jacci is a truly gifted, humble and natural-born instructor whether she is teaching Basic Prenatal, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga or 200-hour teacher trainings. She brings enthusiasm and compassion to the classroom along with a mastery of the subject at hand and supports the students, ensuring their success in the training(s) and imbuing them with confidence to teach in the real world.”  Maggie, NM

“I found Jacci trainings to be filled with detailed knowledge that only comes with experience, study and passion for the subject.  She is adept at presenting all this knowledge in a way that was not too overwhelming to us new trainees and adapting, scaffolding or revisiting lessons when the need would arise. This speaks to her ability to read the group and infer what is needed for us to learn the material and become successful teachers.”  Sara, NM

“I can state without reservation that having Jacci Gruninger as my teacher and mentor made the entire experience that much more profound and meaningful. Jacci has a depth of experience and knowledge that I have encountered rarely in my practice, and she clearly dedicated herself to sharing every bit of that with me and my fellow trainees.”
Michael, NM

“Jacci is a unique, dedicated, intuitive and joyful teacher. Her vast training and experience have shaped her presence and power as a teacher and as a person.”
Maggie, NM

“I am teaching two classes a week and am honestly astonished with how well Jacci prepared me for doing so.  I cannot imagine having received more expert training from a more wonderful mentor.”

Yoga Teacher Trainings Descriptions

200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
The Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts offers  one of the most solidly grounded, transformational and logically structured yoga teacher trainings in the country. Our program trains those who have a love for yoga born out of practice and experience. Our goal is to skillfully encourage personal reflection regarding physical, mental and emotional aspects inherent in each pose, pranayama and meditation, helping students recognize that what is discovered on the mat can be used in everyday living. Our graduates have a deep understanding of the teachings of yoga and will be prepared to teach in a variety of settings, including yoga studios and gyms. Our Directors are compassionate and reassuring, asking teachers to feel fully alive by exploring the limits of their comfort zone. Once they discover this aliveness, they in turn can share it with others.

Our program is steeped in the Tantric Hatha Yoga Philosophy but is also created from adult learning models. We thread together asana, anatomy, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, relaxation, observation, and hands-on assisting as well as reading and working with groups and individuals.

The training is taught over nine intensive weekends with a class size of no more than 24 students. This format allows students time to integrate the material, complete homework and prepare for assigned practice-teach sessions. In the first half of the program, students will learn effective methodologies for teaching postures, pranayamas and centerings. Students will also learn about the history and philosophy of the Tantra Hatha Yoga tradition. In the second half of the program, students will learn to design and lead three kinds of classes: a vinyasa workout class, a meditative posture class, and a gentle stretch class.

One must meet the following requirements to take our program:

  1. Have at least one year of yoga practice (at least six months of classes with a certified instructor.)
  2. Have the ability to demonstrate an experiential understanding of yoga practice and its benefits.

The  Pranakriya Basic 200-hour YTT is registered with the Yoga Alliance and meets or exceeds all its requirements for 200-hour teacher training programs.

“After completing the 200 hour teacher training program, I felt confident that I could walk into a class and lead students through a safe and supported practice. Being able to practice teaching during the training was a wonderful way to begin to feel comfortable in the teacher role, and it gave me the opportunity to observe different people and body types move through the postures. We learned to teach three distinct types of classes, almost assuring that we would be prepared to lead several types of classes upon completion of the program. Because of the thorough training, I was able to secure teaching jobs at local studios and put my skills to use immediately following graduation. If I had to do it all over again, I would still choose this training.” – Stacee

Basic Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training

For yoga teachers who have completed a 200-hour training and midwives/doulas with a strong yoga practice.

Become confident, qualified, and comfortable leading prenatal yoga classes in this training that teaches appropriate asana, assists, pranayama, sounding, and meditation for each stage of pregnancy. Every day of the training begins with a prenatal yoga class in which you wear “pregnant bellies” for each trimester to simulate the experience of moving in a pregnant body. The yoga class is followed by theory, practical application, and practice teaching.

Topics covered in this program include

  • Fetal development
  • Physiological and hormonal changes in the mother’s body during each trimester, and her body’s responses to these changes
  • Pregnancy discomforts during each stage and the yoga practices, non-traditional methods, and traditional techniques that can alleviate these discomforts.

Jacci Gruninger also offers tips on labor and birth, partner prenatal yoga, and how to market your classes.

The manual was so helpful for visual learners.  Jacci was very willing to answer questions yet displayed great classroom management skills when needed.  She was also very empathetic. – Christine Rosati-Dalton

Thank you for providing us with your experience and knowledge.  Jacci was great to work with – very positive and happy energy. I feel very confident in teaching a class on my own now. – Carla Troncoso, TX

Jacci’s kindness and knowledge allowed me to let go of my fear and misunderstandings wrapped up in pregnancy and having babies; she allowed for all the feelings I needed to accept where I am right now. Kate, VT

Gentle Yoga Teacher Training

Living and being with our bodies is a tall order. Sitting back and witnessing our experience takes time and practice. Today’s body is hurried, overworked, under exercised, stressed and depleted. When exercise does occur, it is quick, vigorous and sweat-producing. We each have an opportunity to develop a unique relationship with our body through movement, breath and meditation.

This Gentle Yoga Teacher Training shows us another way to connect with ourselves through the subtle and the quiet. We do this by learning to listen, slowing down and paying attention. Gentle yoga is a the bridge between moving slowly and staying still.

This program will look at various ways to teach Gentle Yoga to a wide variety of populations. We will cover practices for more-able-bodied students, chair practices and floor practices of exploration. Pranayama and meditation will also be discussed.

20 CEUs with Yoga Alliance are provided with this training.

“Jacci’s depth of knowledge is amazing. I am leaving the workshop with tools I can implement/integrate tomorrow.” Julie, PA

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a gentle, inward form of yoga that invites participants to move towards greater balance, control and awareness in their lives. The participant’s body is placed in yoga postures that are supported with props. The mind is invited to slow down with the use of pranayama, visualization and mantra, allowing the individual to turn inside. A restorative practice complements any yoga practice or other form of exercise and is perfect for almost any practitioner looking to experience a deeper state of relaxation and healing than Savasana or sleep. It is also a perfect practice for those recovering from injury or illness, or anyone who experiences stress on a daily basis.

In this weekend-long restorative yoga training created from the Tantric Hatha Yoga Teachings and the work of Herbert Benson and Jon Kabat Zinn, participants will gain practical, hands-on experience and skills to work with a wide range of populations. The program will include posture practice, pranayama, meditation, mantra, mudra, visualization, and use of props to create a safe/comfortable/healing environment. Participants will leave the training confident in their ability to understand the philosophy and science behind restorative yoga as well as be self-assured in their aptitude to lead their students through a complete, restorative yoga practice.

“Jacci & Shelbi are very knowledgeable and obviously passionate about the subject. Their enthusiasm is highly contagious and their rapport very refreshing. All these things made the material accessible and inviting rather than intimidating and foreign.”

“This training was perfect. The length was perfect and had great beginning tips, and now I feel comfortable to safely explore restorative themes in my practice and my teaching”

“Jacci and Shelbi are the dynamic duo of Restorative yoga. I couldn’t have been in better hands on this journey.” – R. Safon

“I loved how well Jacci & Shelbi administered the training together. They were seamless. I love their nurturing souls and ability to create fun as well as seriousness.”
